Mission

The Vaccine Working Group on Ethics and Policy was formed to address key policy challenges associated with the testing and distribution of vaccines intended to prevent Covid-19 transmission in the United States.  These questions include:

*What is the most effective and ethical way to test vaccine candidates?

*What degree of evidence ought to suffice to make a vaccine available for human use?

*What degrees of efficacy and safety would justify making a vaccine available for human use?

*What degree of efficacy would justify making a vaccine candidate widely available?

*How should vaccine distrust, skepticism and hesitancy be addressed?

*How should distrust of vaccines be addressed in minority communities or other ethnic, cultural or religious groups?

*What constitutes fair and just administration of newly approved vaccines?

*How will and should vaccine cost impact distribution?

*What guidance in answering these questions can be garnered from historical introduction of new vaccines?

*What role if any should mandates play in distributing vaccines?

The Vaccine Working Group on Ethics and Policy is an independent, not-for-profit project that receives no industry funding.
